Emergency Assistance Welfare / Whereabouts Assistance to American Citizens 

In the case of welfare / whereabouts situations the State Department's Citizens Emergency Center stands by ready to assist American Citizens at (202) 647-5225.  The State Department will relay the message to the Consular Section in the country in which the American citizen is traveling.  Consular officers will attempt to locate the American Citizen(s), relay urgent messages, and, consistent with the Privacy Act, report back to family members.  Alternatively, the U.S. Embassy of Lomé can be reached by calling 228-261-5470.
