U.S. Embassy – Lome, Togo

Warden Message: To all American citizens in Togo
This message is issued to alert American citizens and to ask for their help. The U.S. Embassy has learned that avian influenza has been confirmed at commercial poultry farms in northern Nigeria, the first reported outbreak in Africa. Tens of thousands of birds there have died. We are in contact with Togolese authorities and health officials, but have not received any reports of avian influenza in Togo. As we monitor the situation, we would also appreciate help from you. If you witness, or receive credible reports of, large-scale bird deaths in Togo, please contact the consular section immediately.
The U.S. Embassy is located at the intersection of Rue Kouenou and Rue Tokmake (formerly known as Rue Pelletier Caventou and Rue Vauban), Lomé; telephone (228) 221-2992 (working hours) and (228) 221-2993 (after hours); fax (228) 221-7952; web site http://togo.usembassy.gov/. The local post address is Rue Kouenou and Rue Beniglato, B.P. 852, Lomé. The consular section's e-mail address is consularlome@state.gov. Please contact us if you have any questions.
